There are packages supporting both the latest stable and latest
development versions of ipw2x00 at ATrpms. The firmware is also
packaged there with proper dependencies, so if you simply adjust your
depsolver's config to include ATrpms all you have to do is

yum install ipw2200 ipw2200-kmdl-`uname -r`

(if you use ATrpms' "stable" repo you'll end up with a x.y.0 release
of ipw2200, if you use the "testing" repo you get the latest
development version)
