Hi, I observed on different laptops with the 2100 and 2200 chipsets that if I move away the laptops from the access point the connection breaks down (or can't be established) on linux a lot sooner than on windows. With the same distance to the access point (~ 10 m, approximately 2 diagnoal stone walls) windows shows a "signal strength" of 50 - 60 % and the connection works quite well. OTOH with linux, same laptops, same distance to the access point, the connection sometimes can't be brought up, or if so, it breaks down again if moving the laptop slightly. Any ideas? I observed this with ipw2100 drivers on linux since they're available and with the ipw2200 driver since I've a laptop with this driver (~two weeks) ;-) Currently Linux-2.6.17.4 and the latest firmwares. iwconfig as it comes with debian unstable, version 28.
