To confuse this issue a little bit more if I may, the Asus W3V has a WiFi LED 
that is controlled purely by a Windows driver, hence, under Linux no LED. 
However, the ACPI provides a hook for switching the LED on/off.

I've always wondered what is the best way to hook into the WiFi scripts that 
would allow me to write my own functionality for controlling the LED, such as 
blinking when searching for networks, steady on - connection with an AP, etc.
