Same symptoms here, using every kernel since ages (to 2.6.19-rc6-mm2,
currently).

In-kernel ipw2200, WPA-PSK with TKIP, wpasupplicant from debian sid
(currently 0.5.5-2), on a Freebox v5.

I'll provide every info requested if that can help, and can test every
solution provided.
