help regarding wireless

Hi, I am a newbie in the wireless domain. I am searching for a documentation/link on how the wireless drivers in general are implemented. Just like a code flow. Means what happens when we try to scan for APs or set an SSID...etc., like that. I may be asking this at a wrong place but I am helpless.
