[please CC me on replies, I'm not subscribed] I'm asking why there is no module parameter for the ipw2200 module (at least of kernel 2.6.20 which I currently use) to select the actual regulatory region. One has to patch ipw2200.c to achieve that. This is not so important for 802.11bg but in case of 802.11a It can happen that you don't get any connection at all as you use the wrong channel set (and you're not in regulatory compliance). Reasoning: 1. You may obtain a card that has some regulatory region in the eprom that does not match the regulatory region you're actually in. In my case the 2915ABG card I obtained (in germany) has "ZZH" in the eprom but actually for my regulatory region (germany) I do need "ZZE". 2. You may travel between regulatory regions and thus may have to change the regulatory region settings. Having to patch the driver source to gain regulatory compliance does seem counterproductive to me. -- Andreas Steinmetz SPAMmers use [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
