We're using it in STA mode only on fork-lift terminals as
well as tablet PCs.

Sure. I'm doing that also try to get changes into mainland kernel 
for features that are still missing.

This "try to get changes" seems to work quite well, the developer 
community for Linux Wireless is mostly friendly and welcoming. 
Patches get commented, refused or accepted quite timingly. 

Generally, from a not-so-involved kernel developer, the 
linux-wireless community is nicer to work with compared to the 
madwifi community, where I made some (very small!) contributions 
two years ago.

I still need to iron out some rought edges. For me, I need have 
scenarios with 20-70 APs and I need good roaming between them. 
That's not yet working correctly, current mac80211 is written in 
Starbucks-Mode (sit on a table, turn WIFI on, search one AP and 
stay with this AP while you slurp your coffee).
