The latest compat-wireless (only the 2.6.32 edition for now) should
compile for Linux 2.6.26 as long as you only select Atheros drivers.

I do realize to switching from MadWifi to ath5k is a bigger deal than
switching between MadWifi branches.

I'll appreciate if you post your results to the ticket.  So far there
have been no test results for that patch at all.
