You are better off asking in [email protected], as the
ath9k-devel list is strictly about the hardware, and I'm not sure you
have a hardware related problem.

Use iwconfig to see if the station is associated and authenticated.  If
using wpa_supplicant, you can use wpa_cli to get more information about
the link.

If the connection is not authenticated, there is no point in running
dhclient, as no packets would be passed.

I was not able to integrate WPA with old style network scripts on
Fedora.  NetworkManager should be able of doing it.  It should be
possible to specify that the connection is available to all users.  But
it's a new option and I'm not sure it's available in OEL 5.5.

The alternative is to remove or disable network scripts and run
wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd (not dhclient) manually.  dhclient doesn't
work well with wpa_supplicant, as it brings the connection down on
startup, requiring a WPA reconnect.
