MadWifi 0.9.4 and the snapshots from the 0.9.4 branch don't support 
AR5008.  You need a MadWifi snapshot from the trunk:

Alternatively, consider upgrading your kernel to at least 2.6.24 and 
using compat-wireless with ath9k.
