crappy dialtones

Hithere,

Have you heard of a case of malformed dialingtones? Apparently these aren't
recognized propery and i get "BUSY"-messages even by entering the AT-commands
(with different numbers) manually. But i can connect in about 1 out of 10
cases, though. With enabled speaker, the tones sound disorted and not as
clearly as under Windows.
I built a kernel (2.4.24/2.4.25) without APIC and tried all kernel-options
(acpi=off, noapic), but still could not get it to work properly.
