Error messages on boot

I am running   
hcfpcimodem-1.01lnxt04031300full_k2.4.21_199_default-1suse  and 
everything seems to work fine. The only problem are the following error 
messages displayed when the system boots:

ttySHCF0 at I/O 0xe000 (irq = 9) is a Conexant HCF controllerless PCI modem

The mentioned files exist, but for some reason they cannot be opened 
when the system is bootstrapping.
Any clue why?
