S7 Timeout problem

The S7 timeout parameter seams to be ignored by the hcflinux driver.  Has anyone else noticed this or am I doing something wrong?

I am trying to connect to my ISP using the hcflinux drivers and wvdial.  My init strings look is:

Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 S7=120 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init3 = ATM0

I am setting S7=120 but no matter what I set it to it appears to be using 50.
