Hi, what do you mean exactly by 'noapic' and 'acpi=off' caused a temporary ring detection? It worked until you reboot the machine? It worked until you had to reload the driver? It worked just one time and no longer after that? etc... If you do not use the 'noapic' and 'acpi=off' kernel boot parameters, are you able to use the ring detection feature or not at all? When you mean that the modem was previously detecting the ring, what package and version of the driver did you used and on which Linux distribution and version? You should also make sure that you have selected the right country when you installed the modem driver. You can see the currently selected country with the 'hcfpciconfig -i, command in a root shell and you can change this setting with the 'hcfpciconfig --country' command in a root shell. The modem was previously detecting ring's on the phone line. The modem has now stopped detecting when the phone rings. i am only using this modem to display callerid information. i have tested the line by dialing out using atdt and answering by using ata, both seem to work fine. my driver version is hcfpcimodem-1.01lnxt04082400full_k2.6.8_1.521-1fdr installed from rpm. also i have tried booting with noapic and apci=off in the kernel modules, this caused a temporary ring detection. > > Ray > > __________________________________________________________________ > Switch to Netscape Internet Service. > As low as $9.95 a month -- Sign up today at http://isp.netscape.com/register > > Netscape.
