Install failure of hsf on mandrake cooker kernel 2.6.11-6

Hello all,

Thanks for the work on the driver.

I have a machine that can run the hsfmodem fine and has run it in the
past using a couple of different kernels. I've upgraded to recent
kernels in order to support the wireless chipset. Now, I can't get the
driver to install no matter what strategy I use (your rpms, tarball, my
rpm from tarball). I've tried several recent Mandrake kernels: 2.6.11-6,
2.6.11-?12?, and 2.6.12-?. (Sorry, not sure of the version numbers). One
of the 2.6.12-? kernels did work at one time but it didn't sleep
correctly so I uninstalled it.

Now I am trying to stick to 2.6.11-6. Note that Mandrake recently has
prevented its generic kernel from working with centrino laptops so we
are forced to use the -i*86-up-*GB variants. I have chosen the
2.6.11-6-i686-up-4GB which works well.

The hsfmodem will install but fail to activate and the devices
/dev/modem /dev/ttyHS* are not created. An rpm install fails in the
postprocess script. /usr/sbin/hsfconfig --kernel works. A tarball
install works fine but the hsfconfig won't activate the kernel. From
what I can tell, the module is being built with an "invalid module
format". Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Below and attached
is a bunch of technical information and would gladly provide more if
necessary.

Thank you,
Adrian Custer.
