can't access data after connecting

good day!  i'm able to connect to my isp, but i can't access data
afterwards.  i'm not able to ping any site using canonical fully qualified
domain names.  but i can ping the ras server of my isp.  i was only able to 
ping succesfuly once & that was on my first connection with my modem.  can 
anybody please help?  thanks!
