Systems crashes completely

Hi,

roughly speaking, the problem I have with my Modem is that sometimes
(might be after 15 minutes, more likely after something like an hour of
being online) the sytem crashes _completely_, i.e., at most the "Kernel
magic keys" work, if at all.

This appeared first when I (simulaneaously?) switched to a 2.6 Kernel and
upgraded from hsf 6.03 to 7.18.05 (I think). At that point, the system
crashed already after a few minutes, so I still used the old kernel with
the old 2.4 Kernel with the hsfmodem-6. With 7.18.06, this got much better
(usually aroud 1h, sometimes 2h or more...). For some time I thought it
would only happen if the modem hangs up and the sytem redials, but just
before it happened without a hang-up (at least, redialing was switched off
in kppp). In case one can reboot with the "magic keys", one can _not_
dial, i.e., there is no sound (maybe it is a sound problem?), and one has
to really switch off the computer in order to reset the modem.

I think that's all what comes to my mind, I attached the hsfdiag.txt and
the Kernel config (/proc/config.gz).

Norbert
