Hi,

we experienced strange and similar issues with the HSF modem driver on 
the 2.6.14-rcX kernel and a workaround was added to the HSF modem driver 
to solve it, actually it did solve it on our development systems.

It is always a possibility the the workaround we have added is the 
source of the problem you have right now.

While a generic package of the HSF modem driver version 7.18.00.07full 
is installed, please edit the file 
'/usr/lib/hsfmodem/modules/GPL/serial_cnxt.c' and at line 770, please 
delete the line:

---
         inst->uart_info->tty->hw_stopped = 0; // workaround for 2.6.14-rcX
---

Re-compile the HSF modem driver modules with the 'hsfconfig' command in 
a root shell and try again to see if you have similar issues.
