Since I am using the Linuxant .deb file, I found that the source file
in question is stored at /usr/lib/hsfmodem/modules/GPL/ so I commented
out line 770 and ran hsfconfig.  It apparently compiled new modules as
the hs*.ko files had a new timestamp on them.  Unfortunately, this did
not fix the problem as kppp cannot find the modem using hardware flow
control and works wonderfully with software flow control.
