Hi, did you tried with the original FC5 kernel (2.6.15-1.2054_FC5) to see if you have the same issue? I guess that dep file mentioned is the modules.dep file but this file should be automatically generated at the installation of the kernel package in the %post section of the spec file (using the /sbin/new-kernel-pkg --depmod script). You should perhaps inspect the /sbin/new-kernel-pkg shell script, it will probably give you some clues to do what you want to do.
