Hi,

the error message is probably because sampling doesn't work in the 
driver, this is also the reason why the dial tone is not detected. Like 
you have mentioned, it could be an IRQ issue or the HSF driver doesn't 
have the right NVM configuration for the specific modem you are 
currently using.

Is it the first time you are trying to use this modem under Linux? Can 
you send the working Windows driver for that modem to 
[email protected]? The Windows driver could help us solve the problem 
if it is related to NVM settings.
