Got my sound back after hours of tinkering. This finally did it. sudo aptitude --purge reinstall linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils linux-image-`uname -r` linux-ubuntu-modules-`uname -r` libasound2 ----- Original Message ---- From: Marc Donovan <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, September 3, 2009 12:18:03 PM Subject: Re: [hsflinux] my serial driver is battling my hsf driver and it is winning I took out the modem and it is no longer in dmesg. Must be an IRQ conflict. I can probably fix that through BIOS settings. But I still have no sound. I guess it is restore time. I am also shopping for an external fax modem. ----- Original Message ---- From: Jim Kyle <[email protected]> To: Marc Donovan <[email protected]>; [email protected] Sent: Thursday, September 3, 2009 10:52:55 AM Subject: Re: [hsflinux] my serial driver is battling my hsf driver and it is winning On Thursday, September 3, 2009, at 11:18:45 AM, Marc Donovan wrote: > its still there in my dmesg after uninstalling. What am I doing wrong here? You didn't say what distribution you are using but it appears to be Debian or Ubuntu. When I removed the hsfmodem package from my Xubuntu system I had the same result, until I searched the list of modules to be installed at boot time and found that hsfmodem was still in the list. Removing it from the list also removed all references to it from the dmesg report. -- Jim Kyle mailto:[email protected] _______________________________________________ hsflinux mailing list [email protected] https://www.linuxant.com/mailman/listinfo/hsflinux _______________________________________________ hsflinux mailing list [email protected] https://www.linuxant.com/mailman/listinfo/hsflinux
