I'm using Red Hat Linux 9 distribution and I want to install the SMC2802W wireless PCI card. I unpacked the latest tarball (prism54-cvs-latest.tar.bz2) and tried to compile (following the README instructions). I had to get the "kernel-source-2.4.20-8.i386.rpm" from "redhat.com" (cause I had the 2-disk release...). When compiling the tarball with "make KDIR=/usr/src/linux-2.4.20-8 clean modules" I have a missing file "linux/firmware.h"... error. I tried to copy a "firmware.h" file from another kernel source tree that I have. The same compilation leads to the following error: "Firmware Loading is not configured in the kernel!" I tried to activate "Library routines---> Hotplug firmware loading support" using the "make menuconfig" command....but it cannot be set (pressing "enter" on the "Library routines" line doesn't change anything). What do I do next??? Is there a patch to install in order to have the "firmware" services??? Should I use another "kernel-source" RPM.??? Is there another way to make the card work??? Thanks for any useful info... Mario
