I'm not quite sure what you mean. I've compiled the driver from the tarball 
linked on the website (cvs-latest) thus:

make clean modules
make install
depmod -a
rmmod prism54 (to make sure there are no old versions loaded)

I then inserted the card into the PCMCIA slot, and what I'd copied on my 
previous email was sent to the syslog (/var/log/messages on my gentoo box)
