help needed about prism 54

  hello friends,
I am writing a wireless sniffer for 802.11b  with  the following specification.

could anyone help me ragarding this...

    I have the specificatiions now .I am just writing it down

Netgear 32-bit Cardbus WG511 with chipset GT 3880 
with driver Prism 54 Linux kernel driver.

Using Libpcap we set to promiscuous mode by simple giving the device name to the pcap_open_live();

when we captured the packet and analyzed them , we found out that only 802.3 header was there and 802.11 header was absent.

Is it possible to set the card in such a way that it will handover the entire 802.11 frame  without making any changes , to the sniffer
