Insert modules of rtl8139.o

I have a Red Hat 8.0 with 2.4.18-14 linux version.
After many problem I have compile the rtl8139.c with the command

make KERNVER='uname -r' rtl8139.o

Therefore I move this file in /lib/module/2.4.18-14/kernel/....
when I command

insmod rtl8139.o

he said me that the rtl8139.o was compiled for kernel version
2.4.18-14custom
while the kernel-version is 2.4.18-14.
 Where is the problem??
