I went spelunking on the realtek nic mail archive & found a few
references to the above mentioned net chip.
FWIW, I have a new Shuttle XPC "toaster" which uses NVidia chipset. I
installed Slackware 9.0; kernel 2.4.20 & gcc 3.2.2 are the most
relevant contents. I plan to use it as a portable system for Oracle
class homework.
NVidia makes a linux driver available on it's web site; unfortunately
they include a lib called nvnetlib.o [no source for the lib], which is
compiled with gcc 2.96. The driver source compiles & links with
nvnetlib.o; unfortunately insmod is very resistant to loading gcc2
compiled modules into a gcc3 compiled kernel.
I sent email to nvidia begging for a nvnetlib.o compiled with gcc3.
Should I hold my breath?
Guess I'll put a Netgear FX310 in it for now.
Also FWIW, I include a bunch of info in case there's a chance a
bonafide Becker module might work with this chip. I recognize running
rtl8139_diag wouldn't necessarily provide any useful info, but I did
it anyway:
