Hi all, I=92m using redhat linux 8.0 kernel 2.4.18-14, and Im trying to install t= he=20 drivers for the rtl8139 NIC. I got lost and the last stage, here is what = I=20 did: 1) downloaded the rtl8139.c source code 2) downloaded the pci-scan.c, pci-scan.h, and kern_compat.h (put t= hem=20 all together in the same directory) 3) Execute the following commands as root: gcc -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -O6 -c rtl8139.c -I/usr/src/linux-2.4/include=20 -include /usr/src/linux-2.4/include/linux/modversions.h then gcc -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -O6 -c pci-scan.c -I/usr/src/linux-2.4/include=20 -include /usr/src/linux-2.4/include/linux/modversions.h Compilation successful, got the rtl8139.o and scan-pci.o files. 4) Then execute: insmod pci-scan.o which went good, got no messages at all But when executing insmod rtl8139.o got the following: >rtl8139.o: init_module: No such device >Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, includ= ing=20 >invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in sysl= og=20 >or the output from dmesg Note: at this point my modules.conf file has the line "alias eth1 rtl8139= " Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Rommel _________________________________________________________________ Share your photos without swamping your Inbox.
