I just done a quick test under 2.6.24 with my Intel Easy Pc Camera/CS110  (spca508)

While pluging the webcam :

It stay black (no out log in dmesg) and I need to kill -9 luvcview
having after in dmesg :

Same problem with vlc

On Monday I'll look deeper on the problem and also try to get a microdia webcam ("0c45:612f" made of SN9C110 + ICM105) working.
