May you check it? Yes. In the README file the first installation method needs a reminder at the end, to start gspca_hlp as root (very green picture with spcaview otherwise - yes I forgot a few times). The following formats are reported with gspca_hlp running: $ v4l-info /dev/video1 | grep pixelformat ioctl VIDIOCGTUNER: Invalid argument ioctl VIDIOCGAUDIO: Invalid argument ioctl VIDIOCGFBUF: Invalid argument pixelformat : 0x31384142 [BA81] pixelformat : 0x56595559 [YUYV] pixelformat : 0x32315559 [YU12] pixelformat : 0x33424752 [RGB3] pixelformat : 0x33524742 [BGR3] fmt.pix.pixelformat : 0x31384142 [BA81] I can't see the YUV420 or RGB24 you mention - I'm confused, is this correct? However spcaview now produces a good picture - well it has the same overexposure problem as gspcav1, so the picture is acceptable indoors. e.g. $spcaview -d /dev/video1 -t The bad news is that my PC locks up completely if I use the command $spcaview -d /dev/video1 -t -g I do not have the knowledge to diagnose what happened in detail - screen locks and no reponse at all from the keyboard or mouse. It only happens if gspca_hlp is running. Let me know what other info you need. Your vlc command works here - same good picture as spcaview. $vlc v4l:/dev/video1 None of the formats listed above by v4l-info are listed as supported by mplayer - but as before entering the hex values has some success: 0x31384142 [BA81] = fails mplayer shuts down. 0x56595559 [YUYV] = as before lots of pink 0x32315559 [YU12] = mplayer stops with a Segmentation fault. 0x33424752 [RGB3] = Picture OK (overexposed) 0x33524742 [BGR3] = Picture OK (overexposed). Many thanks, Chris. __________________________________________________________ Sent from Yahoo! Mail.
