No technical reason, it's entirely political. Few people ask this question on the kernel mailing list, and none of the kernel maintainers believe that there is a problem. > If it's just a matter of lack of testing/knowledge on this driver by the > Linux dist companies then we should help and/or petition them to finally fix > the problem. Jeff Garzik at Mandrake is the one that restructured the tulip driver, and got the modified versions of the many drivers in place of the originals. Thus you are unlikely to convince Mandrake to change. > I'm just a bit frustrated that dists include the tulip driver but have > compiled it in a way that doesn't work with my NIC. To be clear, the distributions include a modified version of the tulip driver. -- Donald Becker [email protected] Scyld Computing Corporation http://www.scyld.com 410 Severn Ave. Suite 210 Scyld Beowulf cluster system Annapolis MD 21403 410-990-9993 _______________________________________________ tulip mailing list, [email protected] To change to digest mode or unsubscribe visit http://www.scyld.com/mailman/listinfo/tulip
