Has anyone with a PPC tried to the driver with a message level of 15?

These are all correct.

Is this on a PPC machine?  If so, what distribution?  Many PPC
distributions in the past have had broken diagnostic interfaces
(presumably because the people making the distribution didn't understand
what the code was for).
