Macronix 98715 timeout

Hello,

I have a Macronix 98715 that fails intermittently under moderate to
heavy network traffic. Using something like a p2p program, anywhere from
an hour to a day, will eventually cause the card to fail with this
message repeated over and over:

spitfire kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
spitfire kernel: eth0: Transmit timed out, status e4660000, CSR12
40a1d0cc, resetting...

This message is displayed over and over. At this point the network
traffic is stalled. I have tried the default kernel drivers for kernel
2.4.21 as well as the drivers from the tuilp page. Both exhibit the same
problem. The past couple of 2.4.xx kernel revisions have had this
problem as well.

Sometimes there are no error messages printed out in dmesg when the card
dies.

Generally, an ifconfig eth0 down/up will get the device working again.

On a hunch, I disabled "PCI Delay Transaction" in my bios and that
seemed to help, however the card still failed eventually, it just took a
little longer. The card works fine in Windows.

I'm running Kernel 2.4.21 on a Via KT266a motherboard. My ethernet card
as reported by the driver is:

Macronix 98715 PMAC rev 37 at 0xd14ddf00,00:80:C6:EA:EA:53, IRQ 10.

For the moment I've switched to a VIA VT6102 Rhine-II based ethernet
adapter which works perfectly. However, for the sake of helping people
with the same problem I've decided to report this problem. I'd be
willing to pop the card back in to help get the issues worked out.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
