The switch probably isn't adding tags on the port where the Linux
system is. Make sure it's configured as a trunk. What kind of switch
is it?

Also, just a reminder, since you're using a switch, ethereal will
never see anything but broadcasts (such as ARP) since the switch
only forwards packets addressed to the Linux MAC address to the port
where the Linux system is connected. To get the whole picture you
need a hub instead.
