right now i tried the ftp://ftp.scyld.com/pub/network/3c59x.c
with it's pci-scan.[ch] and kern-compat.h

i insmoded the pci-scan
then i insmoded your 3c59x.
it is definitly yours, cause it sais there is no enable_wol option.
the original driver has that option.
so i removed the option, and LTSP booted ok.

i did poweroff -f

and the machine was dead as usual, no etherwake capabilities

so i tried

echo 0 >/proc/acpi/sleep
nothing happened
echo 1 >...
system crashed completely
echo 2 >...
nothing
echo 3 >-..
nothing
echo 4 > sleep
some message, then poweroff
the nic is still online!!!!!! (it would be offline now with stock 3c59x module in 2.4.21)
ether-wake fails :-(
to be sure, i just mainswitched off and on -> etherwake works again.

so....

echo 5 > sleep
nothing happens.

:-(
