And you expect objective oppinions on a board-specific mailing list ? :-)

All the 3Com 905B and 905C cards that I have worked realiably over years, 
with good and stable performance. But I usually pick high quality 
mainboards as well, which might be important also in your case where you 
get closer (with network cards only) to the maximum 32-bit PCI capabilities.
But you are of course free to browse the archive of this list and others 
dedicated to other network cards and see for yourself what problems others 
had.
