Yes, but as you CC us directly, they do show up fast in our mailboxes :-)
However, I was very busy during the last few days and couldn't take a look

I think so. Based on vortex-diag output, I would expect things to work 
more or less. Especially encouraging is the line:

	MII PHY found at address 1, status 786d.

which shows that the driver should be able to read the media status.
Now, you said at the beginning that you have added the PCI ids in the 
driver and it didn't work. Could you try now with this driver and use 
"debug=6" as module parameter ? The logs should be filled with some 
messages from the driver. Please post them to the list. Don't try to run 
too much with "debug=6" as the computer will feel slow due to the amount 
of data that is written to the logs :-)
