Everything was fine :-)

Too bad... I was hoping this to work :-(

OK. Another one bites the dust :-)

Yes. Up to (and including) 9, 0x0N = N; hexadecimal versus decimal base :-)

Yes, I have found these as well when looking into the Windows .INF file
that comes with the driver from the Asus site. But it doesn't help much,
except maybe for a name (although Radeon Tornado sounds nicer); the
numbers for I/O and Memory Range and the IRQ are variable at runtime in
Windows just like in Linux...

So now I think that Donald was right and we need to actively do something
as opposed to just not disturb the power-on state with a reset. But how to
find what to do in this case is much harder...

Hmm, another thing that I just realized, but it's just a stab in the dark:
you've never tried to reset the transceiver after everything was up.
Please run "mii-diag -R eth0" after the interface is configured (after
insmod and ifconfig) and see if something changes; you need to wait up to
1 minute for the driver to catch up with any changes in the
autonegotiation, so just keep sending packets for more than a minute
after you run "mii-diag" :-)
(you can get mii-diag from ftp.scyld.com in the same dir with
vortex-diag).
