linux 2.6.8.1 .. 3c556b (mini-pci?) in a imb a21p laptop

I don't suppose you have anything to do with this driver anymore do
you?  I've been using this card successfully with linux up until
2.6.8.1  Prior to the newest "stable" release, using acpi=off seemed to
fix the various problems with this card.  That is no longer the case. 
The need for acpi=off has been needed since the 2.6 test releases.  Any
ideas how I should proceed?
