i forced the switch into full_duplex and tried to force the card, too (via full_duplex=1,1) its clear that the combination autoneg + force does not work, but why my experiences here: switch card result ---------------------- auto auto works auto force does not work (but this is ok) force auto does not work (but this is ok) force force does not work (imho not ok) if i try force+force i loose the link as mentioned by mii-diag: Basic registers of MII PHY #24: 3000 7809 0040 6177 0541 0000 0000 0000. Basic mode control register 0x3000: Auto-negotiation enabled. Basic mode status register 0x7809 ... 7809. Link status: not established. and i see "Auto-negotiation enabled.", which should not be true. or am i missing something? does forcing mean, that i still have autoneg, but with less available options? and how would i force card into 100FD, just by using module parameters? 0x204 is only valid for 3c595, but not for my 3c982. yours josef On Wed, 2003-06-04 at 20:00, Bogdan Costescu wrote: > On 4 Jun 2003, maillists (josef radinger) wrote: > > > 3c59x was loaded with full_duplex debug=7 > > ... and it gave you what you wanted to: > > > I'm advertising 0541: Flow-control 100baseTx-FD 10baseT-FD > > It's only advertising full-duplex modes. > > > and the switch was on full_duplex > > Do you mean that you _force_ the switch to full-duplex ?
