You've made me check myself - I have compiled kernel 2.6.12.3 and
compiled enbd against it and  loaded the module with no problem.

So you will have to add the prink's to your init code to see what is wrong.
I repeat that to me it looks like a compiler problem. But we won't know
until you add the printks and rerun.

Oh - and tell me of any obvious extreme weirdnesses in the setup, like
maybe running on xeon, or having 16GB of memory, or using ia64.
