Compile Issues

Hello,

I am new to ENBD, and after reading all the directions and the INSTALL
directions with the distro I am having some issues compiling. First some
info:
Platform: Quad-opteron
kernel: 2.6.9-11.ELsmp x86_64 ( rpm that came with install)
gcc version: gcc version 3.4.3 20050227 (Red Hat 3.4.3-22.1)

Source is in /usr/src/linux, I have done make modules, make bzImage in
case there are any generated files...

When I try to simply make I get the following error, or similar ones:
   In file included from /usr/src/linux/include/asm/atomic.h:4,
                  from /var/tmp/nbd-2.4.31/nbd/enbd-server.c:44:
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/config.h:6:2: #error including kernel
header in userspace; use the glibc headers instead!

Now, according to the instructions it states:

Also set the environment variable LINUXDIR to the location of the
kernel source directory for your target kernel, because nowadays
/usr/src/linux (the classical location) seems to be some fake that
points to whatever glibc was compiled against

This causes various errors and then make of enbd-server.o bombs
out...I've tried various things, and think that it's something with the
headers...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
B
