Did you get the chance to test the raid1 code without fr1?

One theory might be that the md driver, when the enbd tells the array
that it is faulty, tries to read the enbd device superblock just to
check.  But I don't see the deadlock ..  the notification is sent after
the enbd client has died.  I should be able to test.
