I don't think this went through last time I tried sending it to the group. I didn't recieve a message saying it was bounced, but didn't see it come through, either. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Talik Eichinger <[email protected]> Date: Dec 9, 2006 10:05 AM Subject: odd change in raid 5 To: [email protected] hmm.. my raid seems to have changed from Personalities : [raid5] md0 : active raid5 sdg[6] dm-4[5] dm-3[4] sdd[3] dm-2[2] dm-1[1] dm-0[0] 1758264960 blocks level 5, 32k chunk, algorithm 0 [7/7] [UUUUUUU] unused devices: <none> to Personalities : [raid5] md0 : inactive sdg[6] dm-4[5] dm-3[4] sdd[3] dm-2[2] dm-0[0] 1758291200 blocks unused devices: <none> when I open evmsn, it tells me that the raid is degraded, but shouldn't I still see the raid device if it's degraded? When I try mounting it I get "device /dev/evms/raidmaid does not exist" I find it interesting that the number of blocks went up. should I just replace the dead drive? or is there a bigger/different problem going on here? This happened when I tried a full restart after noticing the raid not responding. my computer had shown a load average of 14+ and 100% wa before restarting. The computer never shut all the way down, and I had to hard power off. Load looks fine now.
