It possible when evms_activate was running before the mount, someone else have EVMS engine opened. Please add "-d debug" to the command (evms_activate) and check /var/log/evms-engine*.log for clues why evms_activate failed to activate ocfs2 volumes. Best regards, - Changju >>> Jeff Bachtel <[email protected]> 1/5/2007 3:23 PM >>> I have EVMS volumes that are formatted with OCFS2 on a SAN. They use a CSM container. I'm seeing an issue that evms_activate is not activating the CSM volumes. This is on OpenSuSE 10.2. The boot order goes something like: initrd evms_activate (for root/boot) boot.evms evms_activate (for further system mounts) heartbeat (to attach to cluster for CSM and OCFS2. This is modified so that the script blocks until the cluster is joined) evms evms_activate ocfs2 mounts Now, the ocfs2 mounts aren't activated during the initrd and boot.evms evms_activate, but that's entirely to be expected (the system is not a member of the cluster at that point, so the CSM module load fails). However, after the system has verifiably joined the cluster, evms_activate fails to activate the ocfs2 volumes. I can go in through evmsn, evmsgui, or the evms utility and activate these volumes, and then mount them, without problem. I have a SLES10 system on which this behaviour does not appear to happen. Can anyone help me debug this? At a long shot guess, the initial evms_activate executions are flagging undiscovered volumes (due to CSM being inactive) as inactive, and when they're rediscovered that state is assumed to still be the case. This is evms 2.5.5 thanks, Jeff -- Jeff Bachtel (root@VPR,TAMU) http://www.cepheid.org/~jeff "The sciences, each straining in [finger [email protected] for PGP key] its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little;" - HPL, TCoC ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
