I had unresolved problems with evms last year and so switched to the 
underlying tools. lvm/mdadm. The problem I was having also went when 
switching, and since mdadm/recent kernels support online raid 5 
reshaping/resizing, there are some small advantages too (And some negatives 
in terms of ease of use perhaps).
