i think, when you install another 1.1.8 jdk (sun/blackdown/ibm) working
with your redhat release, it should work.

the ibm-jdk used from sgi, don't work on my suse 7.3 system. it throws
segsegv. so i changed the scripts to use the default shipped with suse
7.3 and it works. 

i hope sgi will release soon a version of the sysadm is working with
java2  ... when starting the tools with it, the look&feel is better ...
