Sure. A great deal of the ongoing development for linux failsafe is done by Suse GmbH / Lars Marowsky-Bree (Thanks for the great work!), so suse (7.1/7.2) is currently the platform of choice for running failsafe clusters - integration/testing is by far best on this distribution.

If you really want to play with getting it to run on a current redhat, the patches/source rpms etc can be found on suse ftp server, the patches I was refering to are at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/failsafe/patches/

The one snag I ran into was with the JRE/JDK: the IBM 1.1.8 JDK/JRE don't seem to work on redhat 7.2. Use the corresponding JDK from blackdown instead, that works just fine for me.

Also, I've seen a lot of posts saying that you need to have all the redhat updates installed; you should use these anyway for security reasons.
