Common way to setup TV-out?

Hello!

Is there a common way to setup TV-out for Linux framebuffer devices ?

something like: 
	
	fbset -tvout enable
	fbset -tvoutmode pal
	fbset -tvoutconnector svideo

Any legal/technical problems to do that?

I think we definitely need simple way to do that.. for X too.
