trident fb and apm crashes

thinkpad 560e(yes, it's an old 150mmx laptop) works great with apm
and all its features but with the tridentfb on, suspend, standby and
shutdown, hang the machine. on the contrary, imaging and video playing
work just fine.

Any ideas?
